DIRECTOR
OF MUSIC
Alun Bowen is a Llanelli man who spent his teaching career in England. At various times he was master in charge of music at Challney and Icknield Schools in Luton, Head of Music at Bartholomew School, Eynsham, Oxford, Head of Music and Theatre at The Plume School. Maldon, Essex, and Head of Music at Burford School, Oxfordshire.
His involvement with adult music making began with the conductorship of the St. Andrew's Gilbert and Sullivan Society in Luton, Later he became Musical Director of Oxford Opera, Eynsham Choral Society, Witney Municipal Choral Society and the Wenrisc Chamber and Madrigal Singers, Oxford.
He took early retirement in 1985 and moved back to Wales in 1987. From 1988 to 1992 he was Musical Director of Aberafon Male Voice Choir and, from 1992 to 1999, Musical Director of Ammanford Choral Society. He is now enjoying an Indian Summer with Llandybie Male Voice Choir!

Mrs
Gloria Lloyd, who lives in Ammanford, is in constant demand as
an accompanist, mainly at eisteddfodau throughout south and mid
Wales. She was an official accompanist at the Royal National Eisteddfod
held at Dyffryn Lliw
She
studied piano with Mr Horace Field, who was a founder tutor at
the Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, and was successful
in achieving diplomas of LRAM in the art of piano accompaniment
and the ARCM and LCTL (teaching diplomas).
Mrs
Gloria Lloyd also holds a BA (Hons) with the Open University.
She has recently retired from full time teaching in the music
department of Bishop Vaughan Comprehensive School, Morriston,
Swansea.
She
is also organist and choirmistress at Christian Temple, Ammanford.
